HE'S PROUDEST SCOUT IN CITY

For Blimp Answered His Wig Wag Query.

The most excited Boy Scout that ever lived in Cleveland stood yesterday afternoon on top of a box car on the Pennsylvania Railroad embankment near Euclid Avenue and E. 55th Street and saw and heard the pilot of the Goodyear blimp Puritan lean out with a megaphone and shout a personal message to him.

The scout was Gordon Wagner, 15, of 2891 Warrington Road, Shaker Heights, who had come into town for the Plain Dealer Flower Pageant from the scout camp near Chagrin Falls. Willard Hartsek, George Angell and Bud Hiscock came with him and each brought two small, bright red flags, such as scouts use in wig-wag signaling.

"It was a competition to see who could signal the blimp," Gordon said. "I went to E. 55th Street, Willard and George got on the roof of Public Library, and Bud was going to try for the roof at the Museum of Art - I don't know whether he made it or not.

"I climbed up on a box car and began wigwagging. All four of the blimps were together then. After a while they separated and the Puritan seemed to be coming my way.

"I swung the flags and sent 'Has the parade begun yet?' I couldn't tell for a while after that whether they had seen me or not. Finally they began to circle. The balloon came down just over the roofs of the buildings. The motors stopped roaring and a guy leaned out and yelled, 'Just beginning now.'"

Gordon is a Star scout, two grades from the top rank, and still going. He is senior patrol leader in Troop 15, which has its home at Plymouth Church. He has been a scout for three years and has not given any special attention to signal work.

Troop Notes.

Troop 15, Plymouth church of Shaker Heights, spent yesterday on a hike to the scout reservation, accompanied by the new Troop 164. Donald Hosford, assistant scoutmaster of Troop 15, will be the scoutmaster of Troop 164.
